Fishing

I’ve been pond fishing as far back as I can remember. We moved onto the ranch my father ran when I was 12. It was a massive 10,000 acres, with 22 stocked ponds. I explored every inch of it, and fished every hole with fish in it. Any weekend, day off, or all summer long, I would be gone before daylight, and return home long after sundown. If they were really biting come late evening, it wasn’t unheard of for me to position the headlights from whatever vehicle I could wrangle up towards the waters edge until the action had run its course.

Our family ranch is a fraction of the size of the ranch grew up on. But my love for this land is immensely deeper. Our main pond was constructed in 1957, and remained untouched until 2011. A harsh drought that year gave us our first opportunity to perform a cleanout, and broaden its footprint. Copper nose sunfish, and fathead minnows were stocked in 2013 as feeder fish for our future bass. F1 Tiger/Florida largemouth hybrids were stocked in 2016, and immediately flourished. These bass are aggressive, territorial, and put up a great fight. Our home pond has become my favorite place to wet a line. With an abnormally wet spring in 2021, we have also added (begrudgingly) catfish, crappie, and white perch to the menu. Visit our calendars page to book a family fishing trip today. I hope you enjoy fishing here as much as I do.
